Tuition Reimbursement
Introduction - The tuition reimbursement benefit
is a personal development plan that enables full-time associates
to acquire skills and knowledge for career development within the
company through education.
Repayment Agreement – Should the associate
voluntarily leave the Company within one year of receiving reimbursement,
they are expected to repay the Company in full for all reimbursement
paid within the past year from the date of termination. Should
the associate voluntarily leave the Company from one to two years of
receiving reimbursement, they must repay the Company 50% of all reimbursement
paid within the past year from the date of termination.
Reimbursement Rate – 100% for grade of B or
above; 75% for grade of B-, C+ & C.
Eligibility – Full-time associates are eligible
for tuition reimbursement on their first day of employment. (Note:
Temporary associates (full or part-time) are not eligible for tuition
reimbursement).
Coverage – Tuition only (lab fees, books, parking,
activity fees and other miscellaneous expenses are not covered under
this policy).
Course type – On campus and/or web-based (distance
learning).
Cap – Associate is eligible for reimbursement for up to a maximum of $5,250 per calendar year. The annual cap will be reviewed periodically.
Institution – Must be an accredited institution.
Degree Programs – Must be job-related or support
career development goals compatible with Stop & Shop business needs.
Certificate Programs – Certificate programs,
when approved, are to be reviewed and paid for by the associate's department
under staff development.
Exceptions – There are no exceptions.
Scholarships
Lewis G. Schaeneman, Jr. Scholarship Award
Award Criteria:
- One annual $5,000 award to an associate who has completed 1,000
hours of service. Renewable for three additional years if satisfactory
grade level is maintained.
- Five $1,000 1-year scholarships to associates who have completed
1,000 hours of service.
Lewis G. Schaeneman, Jr. Award Excellence
Recognizes associates in grade levels 18 and below who exemplify:
- Passion for Excellence: An insatiable desire to learn; perform
beyond one's potential; a model for excellence in service and quality;
be creative and demonstrate initiative.
- Personal Accountability: Wisdom is knowing what to do, virtue is
doing it. Make and keep commitments; do what it takes to get the
job done; acknowledge; learn from and don't repeat mistakes. Put
yourself at risk for the customer and the company's success.
- Concern for Others: Tell the truth and be fair; keep promises;
do what is right.
- Nominated by peers. Selected by Company panel.
- $5,000 cash award

The Stop & Shop Scholarship Awards
The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company awards nine $1,000 scholarships
each year, for one year to high school
seniors who are either associates of the Company or children of associates.
The scholarship award is sent directly to the school to be attended.
The criteria for this award includes:
- The associate or parent must have a minimum of one year of continuous
full-time or part-time service as of March 31st in the given year.
Seasonal or casual associates are not eligible to participate in
the program.
- In addition, associates receiving a scholarship must remain actively
employed in order to remain eligible for the scholarship. In order
for the children of associates to remain eligible for a scholarship,
the parent must remain actively employed by the Company.

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAMS
Associate Recognition
Service Awards
Stop & Shop honors all full and part-time service associates
starting at 5 years of employment and then every 5 years after that. For
5 years of service associates receive a predetermined gift. Starting
at 10 years of service associates are able to choose their gift from
a selection of gifts. Awards are presented in the fall of each
year.
Quarter Century Club
The Quarter Century Club honors associates who have 25 years
of continuous full-time service with The Stop & Shop Supermarket
Company. All new inductees receive a commemorative gift presented to
them at a special event held in their honor. Full-time active associates
with continuous service with Stop & Shop, or in combination with
any Ahold USA Company, are inducted into the Quarter Century Club in
the year in which their 25th anniversary falls. An associate who retires
in the year in which he/she would have been inducted into the Quarter
Century Club will be granted membership and will receive his/her gift.
Continuous service is defined as full-time service totaling 25 years
with Stop & Shop, or in combination with any Ahold USA Company on
or before the retirement date or during the year of retirement. Military
leave or an authorized leave of absence does not interrupt this period
of time.

EAP
WHAT IS THE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM?
The Stop & Shop Employee Assistance Program is a voluntary,
confidential referral program designed to help our associates and their
families find services to help with their personal problems.
WHAT KIND OF HELP IS AVAILABLE?
The EAP serves as a link between you and a network of helpful
resources. The EAP can put you in touch with professionals who
will offer support and guidance with many types of problems, including
family, financial, legal, child or elder concerns. Organizations
used by the EAP for referral include public, non-profit, and private
agencies.
SPECIAL DEALS
Discount Movie Tickets
Looking to see the newest movie release? Or some fun
family entertainment? Discount movie tickets are available at the 1st
floor reception desk at QCP. Cash and checks only. Theaters that tickets
are available for are: AMC, Showcase/ National Amusements and Regal.
Pharmacy
Now, you can save a trip to the pharmacy and use the Stop & Shop
Prescription Delivery Service.
- Refills can be called (or faxed) into the Pharmacy at Store #017
on Southern Artery in Quincy by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
or Thursday for same day delivery. The pharmacy phone number
is 617-471-6707.
- New prescriptions can be faxed to the Pharmacy at Store #017 at
617-769-9777 using a Fax Cover Page indicating it is for delivery
to QCP. Fax Cover Sheets may be picked up at the 1st Floor
Reception Desk. Since this fax is not a legal document and
is for pharmacist's informational purposes only, the original prescription
must be given to the delivering pharmacist.
- A pharmacist will be on site for prescription delivery on Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the 2nd Floor Reception Desk
from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Ford Fleet Purchase Program
Ford is offering Ahold associates and family members special
pricing on new or leased current year models of Ford vehicles.
IBM Purchase Program
In an effort to provide Ahold associates with special benefits
and because Ahold is a valued IBM corporate client, Ahold has negotiated
an Employee Purchase Program with IBM. The program offers associates
a 10% discount off retail on IBM home computer products when ordering
through the web or 800 number.
Nextel Purchase Program
In an effort to provide Ahold associates with special benefits
and because Ahold is a valued Nextel corporate client, Ahold has negotiated
an Employee Purchase Program with Nextel. Nextel passes along the
corporate rates to associates.
Verizon Purchase Program
In an effort to provide Ahold associates with special benefits
and because Ahold is a valued Verizon corporate client, Ahold has negotiated
an Employee Purchase Program with Verizon. Verizon passes along
the corporate rates to associates.
Ski Pass Program
Corporate associates are able to purchase lift tickets to 3
ski areas in New Hampshire at the discounted price.
All Stop & Shop employees may not be eligible for all benefits.
If there are discrepancies between information in this summary and
the applicable plan documents or insurance contracts, the plan documents
and insurance contracts will govern. Stop & Shop reserves the
right to modify any or all components of the Company's benefit plans
at the sole discretion of management. Although employees will be
