Diversity Partnerships

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has a long history of partnering with communities we serve. As a proud partner, Stop & Shop provides support to hundreds of local organizations throughout the region. Community partnerships are a vital aspect of Stop & Shop’s Diversity Strategy. Below we have highlighted two partnerships that have benefited the community and Stop & Shop. We have also listed a few other organizations that Stop & Shop has proudly partnered with.

New Hampshire Cultural Diversity Awareness Council

Founded in 2000, the NHCDAC’s mission is to increase awareness of the need for communication, understanding and respect among people of diverse backgrounds. Through community events, educational programs and alliances with corporations, educational institutions, government agencies and non-profit organizations, NHCDAC addresses the important issues of multiculturalism facing our nation today.

Since 2001, Stop & Shop has worked closely with the council. A major part of the program offerings by the council is the “Keeping The Dream Alive” cultural diversity workshop at Waterville Valley Conference Center. This one of a kind, daylong program combines cultural diversity training and skiing for 320 middle school students. The training that is delivered at the workshop was developed by associates in Stop & Shop’s Training & Development and Diversity departments. Stop & Shop associates also volunteer each year to facilitate the training.

Bottom Line

Bottom Line is a college counseling service for disadvantaged youth. The program assists Boston Public School students through the college access process and stays with the student until they attain their college degree. The mission of the program is to ensure that more students of color coming out of Boston Public schools are attaining college degrees.

Stop & Shop has been a strong supporter of the program since its inception in 1997. Each year 10 deserving Bottom Line students receive Stop & Shop scholarships. Stop & Shop has also taken a number of Interns each summer from Bottom Line. These internships have been instrumental in recruiting Bottom Line students to join Stop & Shop as full time associates upon graduation.
