Stop & Shop Profiles

Ken Burroughs
District Manager-CT Division

Ken came to Stop & Shop from Liberty Mutual Insurance in 1991. He started in Risk Management as a claims adjuster, then moved to Workers Compensation Claims, where he was a claims manager. Next he was Human Resources Manager for the Boston Division, handling personnel and HR issues at the store level. Then he was Director of Associate Relations for the CT Division, where he handled all HR issues. After that, he moved into his present position as District Manager for District 18, CT, which includes 13 stores in northwestern Connecticut and the Berkshires in Massachusetts. He oversees all operations including store conditions and expenses. For Ken, no day is ever the same as the day before. Each day brings new challenges to meet and new decisions to make. He especially enjoys interacting with people at the store level, identifying their potential, and watching them grow. "If you have a strong work ethic and want to build a successful career, you can come into Stop & Shop and your talents will move you forward." When he's not working, Ken enthusiastically takes on projects around the house and attends as many jazz concerts as time will allow including going to the Newport Jazz Festival every year.

Sandra Mutti
Florist Specialist

Sandra was with Shaw's for 12 years before coming to Stop & Shop in 2001. After working as Florist Manager in Malden, Beverly, Amesbury and Stoneham, Sandra was assigned to a Special Project involving 7 stores that needed help improving their gross floral sales. Her strategy included running classes for part-timers, showing them how to make flower arrangements and handle wedding orders. Sandra then trained for a special Customer Service Manager position designed to help Stop & Shop's move into New Hampshire, where she was put in charge of setting up the floral departments, which often meant "hiring and training from scratch." Sandra is now the Florist Trainer for 3 market areas, 2 on the North Shore and 1 in New Hampshire (a total of 31 stores), where she gives the District Managers, Managers and Staff the support and feedback they need to run successful, profitable florist departments. For Sandra, the best part of her job is being able to help people. She was instrumental recently in helping one of her florists win a promotion to Customer Service Manager. "I've received a lot of support from people here, and I want to be able to do the same for others." When she can find the time, Sandra enjoys painting (she works in acrylics), traveling with her husband (especially to Lido Beach in Sarasota, their favorite spot), and most of all spending time with her family "They're Number One!"
